Not So Vintage Peacock - Honeymoon in Aruba

I chose Aruba for our Honeymoon because it is where we went on our first vacation together many years ago. We both loved our time there and said we would always go back.

Bucuti is an adult friendly boutique resort that is NOT all inclusive. It is however one of the few resorts that is actually on the beach (Eagle Beach.) If you have a ground floor ocean view suite, you'll be walking off your porch onto sand! They also have beach service dining, which is how we ate lunch everyday. More services

One of the many things we did in Aruba was to go on a Jeep ride - Go off-roading with De Palm Tours on the 'other' side of the island. You'll get to swim in the natural pool. If you rent a 4-wheel drive vehicle you could get here but it's a very steep drive!

Not So Vintage Peacock - 'Flowers' and Favors

'Flowers' and Flowers:

I love this button and felt bouquet by RBK Creations. Obviously I'd need to have it adjusted from a beach theme to my garden/peacock theme but I think the fact that it uses button and cloth makes it feel more vintage. Make sure to check out this Etsy seller!
This listing is for 1 Bride Embroidred Felt and button Bouquet of 20 stems, 1 Groom Boutonniere(felt and buttons or just buttons) , 3 Bridesmaid Embroidered Felt and Button Bouquets of 12 stems each and 3 matching Boutonnieres (felt and buttons or just buttons)for the groomsmen and 1 Toss Bouquet 7 Stems in the colors of YOUR choice. $355.00
I want to save the real flowers for my centerpieces. I love hydrangeas and really want to bring the outdoor garden into my indoor reception.

Favors:

I think that everyone hopes that their wedding favors will be appreciated, these seem like a good idea because it's easy to plant a few seeds. If they grow, it will be pretty and everyone should try to make the world more beautiful instead of just contributing to the waste. These favors are supposed to be 'green' and that's important to me and my theme for this wedding.

These favors are from plantamemory.com

They are customizable with the couples' name and date. ($1.79 each for 100+ or $1.99 each for 20-90)

Favorite Couples: Bam & Missy

I got sucked into Bam's Unholy Union and really enjoyed their wedding. As crazy as Bam and his friends are he really seemed to love Missy and it was fun to watch them planning their wedding. I loved Missy's veil! (probably the reason why I chose this picture)

Unfortunately I couldn't find a video of their wedding to post on here but if you click on the link below you can watch the entire episode on MTV.com

Reciting Vows: "The pair walk down the aisle and say 'I Do' for good!"

Not So Vintage Peacock - Cocktail Hour

When it comes to the cocktail hour at my wedding, I want people to be able to enjoy the scenery as much as possible. So I'd like to have passed appetizers that are as organic as possible (need to find a good caterer) and tasty.

Can't forget the drinks! I'd keep the usual stuff but make sure that I include some lemonade, iced tea and something along the lines of these cute blue things : )

Not sure what's in this drink but it's apparently kid friendly and looks yummy!

Do Not Play List - Wedding Dress by Matt Nathanson

Great Artist (actually the reason why Mr. Wonderful and I met) however since this song is about divorce... probably not a great choice to play during your reception.

I LOVE Taylor Swift. This song is just beautiful and I think it really embodies the feeling you hope to have on your wedding day.

Not So Vintage Peacock - Bride

The Dress

I love the details on this dress. Its called Gwenyth from David Tutera by Faviana. The dress has a little bit of sparkle without looking bedazzled. Also the bottom of the skirt reminds me of feathers (peacock) without looking like a giant feathered cupcake.

Not So Vintage Peacock - Bride Bling

I wanted to make sure that my original idea for incorporating something vintage into this wedding didn't disappear.

I'm not sure where this bird cage veil is from. I found it on an article of different types of veils and can't seem to track it down. If you have incredible on-line hunting skills and can find this let me know!

Favorite Couples: Kermit & Miss Piggy

Not sure what there is to say; Kermit and Miss Piggy will go down in history as one of the best celebrity couples ever.

Piggy finally made Kermit make her an honest woman!

Kermeeee!

Not So Vintage Peacock - Groom

I decided to have some fun with the groom/groomsmen look. It's a mix of vintage and modern just like this wedding.

Men's Wearhouse Calvin Klein Gray 2-Button Super 110s Satin Edge Peak Lapel Suit #1870; Bella Luna Oasis Vest #8853BLOAS; White Wing Collar Shirt #5750

I'd like to do something like these boutonnieres:

from rbkcreations on flickr I looked at some variations with a peacock feather and they just seemed like they would overpower this look. Using buttons is better for the environment as well as being super cute!

Not So Vintage Peacock - Reception

I love being outside but I like the idea of having an intimate reception inside the Estate House. This way my guests can enjoy the scenery but also stay cool inside this room.

Details for this venue:
  • Rental of house and gardens is available on weekends and holidays to Mass Audubon Members ($29.00 individual-new; supporter $70.00; $80.00 family plus)
  • Maximum capacity is 100 people (any functions)
  • Events can not begin before 11 am or go later that 8 pm
  • Site fee for formal functions is $2,800 for a 5 hour period (includes tables and chairs)
  • They have rules about the volume of music and I saw something about the venue being 'dry' for meetings so I have a feeling it is probably that way for weddings; something to ask about!

Need Outside Vendors for:
  • Tent (30 x 40-foot) can be rented for approximately $1,000
  • Catering (large kitchen and commercial appliances available for use)
  • Table cloths and linens

Favorite Couples: Major Anthony Nelson and Jeannie

What guy wouldn't want to marry a girl who called him Master? haha it only took 5 seasons!

There's only one slight problem, Jeannie can't be photographed! lol I do think however that the dress she wore in an earlier episode was much prettier.

Here she's trying to convince Tony to marry her. This dress is classic!

Not So Vintage Peacock - Photo Ops

Here are some photos from the Wildlife Habitat Sanctuary gardens where I would love to take pictures with my new husband!
We might just have to sneak away from everyone for a little while! (haha) Also I think our guests would love to be able to walk around the grounds while enjoying the cocktail hour.

Not So Vintage Peacock - Ceremony

My ceremony will take place in the formal gardens of the Habitat Wildlife Sanctuary of the Mass Audubon Society in Belmont, Ma

I want something simple for the ceremony. We obviously won't need any additional flowers added to the space since it will take place in a garden.

Reason # 9,002 why I love Disney...

One of the best scenes in a Disney movie:

I just love how everyone jumps in to sing and dance as Giselle tries to show Robert how to express his feelings. Plus it is a catchy song! Oh and there just happens to be a bunch of couples getting married in Central Park! :)

This design may be a contender for the actual future wedding :)

Favorite Couples: Samantha & Darrin Stevens

Even thought they do not actually show their wedding... just putting the ring on her finger, they are still one of my all-time favorite couples. I grew up thinking that the relationship between Darrin and Samantha was how all couples should be. I especially enjoy how much they have in common ;)

Not So Vintage Peacock - Inspirations

So I managed to fall right into one of this seasons biggest tends: peacock. I saw Alyson Hannigan wearing BCBG Max Azria in US Weekly and everything sort of fell into place.

I really want to use these two colors, the purple/blue of the dress and the green(teal) of the necklace. I'd like to incorporate some peacock feathers but in a few subtle places.

I originally started thinking vintage would go along with this perfectly and some touches I really like are vintage inspired but then some of my other choices were not so vintage which gave me the idea for this theme.

Overall Ideas:

Purple/Blue
Green (Teal)
Peacock
Garden
Vintage
Modern
